I'm looking forward to being able to drink tap water, having loads of ice in my drinks, showers with good water pressure, the term "toilet" going back to being a reference to an object instead of a room, ketchup that tastes like ketchup, St. Louis Bread Company, US dollars, elevators and unlimited data and Wi-Fi.
I'm going to miss the beautiful views in Scotland. The Isle of Arran, our cute farm house, hearing the sheep from my room even when they sound like a man imitating a sheep. I'll miss drinking cider on the roof while looking out at the sea, and spots like Kildonan Beach and Blackwaterfoot.
I'll miss the coffee shops, having an excuse to get a mocha everyday because "We need WiFi to post our blogs." I'll miss the rain, running down the cobblestone streets, the pubs, the clubs, the fish and chips and the excitement that comes with calling them "chips", the delicious cider flavors, being able to pay for things in coins and not getting strange looks and the architecture. I'll miss the charming Scottish accents, even the ones I couldn't understand. Their "Hiya!" and their "Cheers!"
Life away from America can be hard to transition to, especially for a diva like me. But through it all, it was more than worth it.
